The lawyers of arrested Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık reacted to the Forensic Medicine Institution’s request for further examinations. The lawyers stated that this request is no longer a legal and medical evaluation and that the process has turned into a violation of human rights.
They emphasized that Çalık had undergone extensive medical examinations in recent weeks and that prison conditions pose a serious risk to his health. The lawyers said that Forensic Medicine’s finding the existing reports insufficient was unjustified and that subjecting Çalık to similar procedures again would cause both physical and psychological harm.
CHP’s Sezgin Tanrıkulu described the process as “cruelty and unscrupulousness” and stated that Çalık was deprived of his right to treatment and could have been released without the need for a Forensic Medicine report.
