A British tourist who allegedly spat on a Turkish flag hanging in the lobby after arguing with employees at a hotel in Alanya, Antalya, was detained. Police apprehended the tourist after hotel staff reported the incident and referred him to the Alanya Courthouse. The court arrested the tourist on a charge of “insulting the symbols of state sovereignty” and sent him to prison.
