Umut-Sen Organizing Coordinator Başaran Aksu was summoned for questioning over a speech he delivered on the anniversary of the fire in Gayrettepe that claimed the lives of 29 workers. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into Aksu on charges of “insulting the President” and “insulting a public official.” In his statement, Aksu denied the charges, stating that he stands by his speech.
