Following the Supreme Court’s overturning of Ayşe Gökkan’s prison sentences for “membership in an organization” and “aiding an organization,” the third hearing of the retrial was held on December 30 at the Diyarbakır 9th Heavy Penal Court. The prosecutor requested Gökkan’s release, considering the length of her detention. Gökkan and her lawyers argued that the charges fell under freedom of expression. The court accepted the request for time to prepare the defense but rejected the release requests and postponed the hearing until March 26, 2026.
