Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that 16 people who made posts on social media described as “provocative” regarding the operation against ISIS in Yalova were detained on December 30. Yerlikaya stated that the posts were investigated on the grounds that they contained disinformation, as part of efforts coordinated by the Cybercrime and Security units. The ministry reported that the investigation is ongoing with regard to the detained individuals.
