Author Ergün Poyraz was released from custody in the case where he was being tried for a social media post about the home of Aydın Metropolitan Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu. In a post on October 1, Poyraz shared a photo of Çerçioğlu’s home with the caption, “She took this from the pockets of the people of Aydın,” and was arrested the next day on charges of illegally obtaining personal data. The court decided to release Poyraz under judicial supervision, taking into account his health condition and the length of time he had spent in custody. Poyraz has been banned from leaving the country. The next hearing will be held on November 25.
