The Istanbul 8th Criminal Court of First Instance accepted the third indictment prepared against academic Aslı Aydemir and ruled that she should remain in custody. Aydemir, who was arrested on July 4 for protesting the June 30 attack on the Beyoğlu office of LeMan magazine, had been held in Silivri Prison for 167 days. The prosecution demanded that Aydemir be punished for the crime of “resisting to prevent the performance of duty,” claiming that she obstructed a police officer and injured him by hitting his arm with a glass she was holding. The court accepted the indictment and rejected the request for release. It was announced that the first hearing of the case will be held on February 12, 2026.
