The first hearing of the trial of peace academic Aslı Aydemir, who was arrested on July 4 for protesting the attack on LeMan magazine on June 30 and released on January 14, was held at the Istanbul 8th Criminal Court of First Instance. Aydemir is charged with “resisting to prevent the performance of duty.” In her defense, Aydemir said she acted in self-defense during the incident on Mis Street and did not intend to injure the police officer. Police officer Mustafa Ö., who claimed to have been injured in the incident, stated that Aydemir hit his arm with a beer glass and that he had filed a complaint. After hearing the statements of the parties, the court adjourned the hearing until June 23, 2026.
