İlave TV presenter Arif Kocabıyık, known for his social media interviews, was detained again today after his release yesterday.
Arrested on May 7 on charges of “insulting the president”, Kocabıyık was released yesterday. However, the General Directorate of Security initiated new proceedings against Kocabıyık, stating that he used insulting statements against President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in an interview published on Instagram.
According to Sözcü, Kocabıyık’s lawyer Ömer Furkan Dağ said that the prosecutor objected to the final release decision citing two previous cases in which Kocabıyık had been summoned to testify and released, and that although this objection was rejected, the prosecutor’s office issued a direct detention order.
