An ex officio investigation was launched against CHP Chairman Özgür Özel for “publicly disseminating misleading information to the public” due to statements he made at a rally for arrested mayor Muhittin Böcek in Antalya. Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office claimed that Özel made untrue statements about the operation against Manavgat Municipality. Özel, on the other hand, claimed that the operation was pre-planned, that the city council members were targeted through a baklava shop and that the AKP was trying to take over Manavgat.
