Journalist Sevda Erkılınç, who has celiac disease, cannot access gluten-free food and treatment in prison. Women, rights defenders and human rights organizations sent a petition to the Ministry of Justice demanding the right to health and Erkılınç’s release. In statements made in Istanbul, they protested the imposition of handcuffed medical examinations and the lack of proper nutritional conditions. It was reported that Erkılınç suffers from celiac disease, asthma and eczema and was forced to be handcuffed during the examination.
