CHP Chairman Özgür Özel revealed that Istanbul Chief Prosecutor Akın Gürlek received a salary for nine months as a board member at Eti Maden’s company in Luxembourg. Özel said that Gürlek was appointed to this position despite not having sufficient foreign language skills. Following the announcement, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into Özel on charges of “insulting the President” and “insulting a public official in connection with their duties.” The rally in Ümraniye was the 65th in a series of gatherings organized under the slogan “Standing Up for the Will of the People” in opposition to İmamoğlu’s arrest.
