A penalty of reprimand was issued for medical doctor Hülya Şen due to two cartoons she shared on the social media within the administrative investigation opened against her after marching to the Supreme Electoral Board (YSK) headquarters in Ankara from Istanbul to protest the referendum results.
Ministry of Health General Directorate of Administrative Services stated, “Public officers are obliged to behave in accordance with the public service they provide, avoiding acts that would shake the reputation and trust required for their duty,” claiming that the posts have “exceeded the limits of freedom of expression and opinion as well as criticism.” Reacting against the decision, Şen said, “There is no Parliament after the referendum; and I was penalized due to the cartoon that predicted it.”
