On June 11, the court announced its ruling in the case regarding the death of 18-month-old Mehmet Uytun, who was killed by a tear gas canister in the Cizre district of Şırnak in 2009. The Cizre 4th Criminal Court of First Instance acquitted soldier Hakan Alkan, who was alleged to have fired the tear gas canister, on the grounds that there was no concrete evidence.
