Access to numerous accounts was blocked on social media platforms on the grounds of posts targeting President Erdoğan. The access restrictions were implemented in accordance with decisions made by the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK).
The blocked accounts include journalists, political activists, and opposition pages. The decision, taken under the charge of “insulting the President,” has reignited debates on freedom of expression. Legal experts emphasized that arbitrary access restrictions violate the Constitution and European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) rulings.
