Abdülhamid Kayıhan Osmanoğlu, the grandson of Abdülhamid II, demanded that the news about him having a fake diploma be blocked and 30 thousand TL compensation be paid.
Osmanoğlu, who was revealed to have received a fake History undergraduate diploma from İnönü University, filed a lawsuit at Bakırköy 3rd Civil Court of First Instance requesting an access ban on Hürriyet’s news article titled “Grandson of Ecdat with Fake Diploma”. In the petition, it was argued that an attempt was made to create a negative perception against the Osmanoğlu family in the society.
Osmanoğlu also demanded 30 thousand TL compensation. However, the court rejected the request for an injunction on the grounds that “the request requires a trial” and postponed the hearing to October to complete the deficiencies in the file. Osmanoğlu appealed this decision.
It was also publicly reported that Osmanoğlu needed a diploma to run for President in the future.
