Following the suspicious death of a 15-year-old child on the campus of Van Yüzüncü Yıl University (YYÜ), students staged a protest demanding a safe campus. Police intervened when students attempted to march under the slogan, “What business does a gun have on campus?” At least 10 students were handcuffed and detained. The students stated, “We cannot receive an education where there is no safety; we are boycotting until a safe campus is provided.” During the intervention that took place after the police cordon, arrests were made, and journalists who wanted to film the protest were also prevented from doing so.
