Under the guidance of Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin, vocational high schools have opened secondary schools for girls only. Kadem Özbay, President of Eğitim-İş, said that this is an ideological intervention that segregates children at an early age and limits their right to education. Özbay emphasized that this practice, which violates the coeducation provision of the Basic Law on National Education, aims to divide society on the basis of gender and deepen inequality. Adana, Ankara, Gaziantep, Karaman, Karaman, Kastamonu, Manisa and Şanlıurfa are among the provinces where girls’ secondary schools have opened.
