An investigation was launched against a person under Law No. 5816 on Crimes Committed Against Atatürk over a photograph of a Lenin statue they shared on social media 11 years earlier. The person shared a photo of a Lenin statue toppled in Ukraine with the comment, “I hope they all end up upside down.” The report said the post was interpreted as an allusion to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and the investigation was launched on that basis.
