Police intervened against a crowd that wanted to march following a press statement in Iğdır protesting attacks by groups affiliated with Damascus on northern and eastern Syria. Police used pepper spray during the protest, which was attended by members of the DEM Party and DBP, as well as Iğdır Co-Mayor Mehmet Nuri Güneş. After the intervention, 48 people were detained, including DBP Party Assembly member Abdullah Ekelik, DEM Party Iğdır Provincial Co-Chair Deniz Kaynar, Iğdır Co-Mayor Nejla Kum, members of the municipal and provincial assemblies, and members of the Free Women’s Movement. Those detained were taken to the Iğdır Provincial Security Directorate after undergoing health checks.
