A 16-year-old boy was arrested in Istanbul on charges of “insulting the president” and “public incitement to hatred and hostility” for his social media posts. Detained on July 8, the boy was arrested by Gaziosmanpaşa 1st Criminal Judgeship of Peace. While the lawyers’ request for release was rejected, the court ruled for arrest on the grounds that judicial control would be insufficient.
