In the investigation conducted by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office into allegations of “embezzlement” against the İzmir Business People Örnekköy Housing Construction Cooperative, seven individuals, including former Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer, former CHP Izmir Provincial Chairman Şenol Aslanoğlu, and former IZBETON AŞ General Manager Heval Savaş Kaya, were referred to the Criminal Court of Peace on December 29 with a request for arrest. The prosecutor’s office took action against 11 individuals whose responsibility was determined based on expert reports. While Soyer and Kaya remain in custody as part of the case, Aslanoğlu had previously been released.
