The Ankara Governorship banned province-wide assemblies, marches, press statements, protests, rallies, stall openings, tent pitching, leafleting and similar activities from June 28 to July 10, citing the 36th NATO Summit. Bianet noted that the legal provisions on which the decision was based did not grant the governorship authority to impose such a blanket province-wide ban.
