The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office issued detention orders for 13 people as part of an investigation into Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. Prosecutors investigated allegations that some tenders conducted by the İBB Procurement Directorate had been “rigged and caused public losses.” Istanbul Financial Crimes Branch teams detained 12 people in a simultaneous operation. Mahmut Berk Şahin, who was also subject to a detention order, was reported to be abroad. Those detained included İBB Procurement Department Head Mustafa Sökmen, Public Restaurants Branch Manager Ali Toy, former Financial Affairs Department Head Rezzan Neslihan Vural and municipal police official Gökhan Fırtına.
