A disciplinary penalty was issued against former People’s Democratic Party (HDP) Hakkari MP Abdullah Zeydan due to his declaration of 10-day hunger strike in order to support the hunger strike of Leyla Güven in prison.
Zeydan was detained on November 4, 2016 and is arrested together with Selahattin Demirtaş at Edirne Type-F Prison. Zeydan had announced that he will go on a hunger strike for 10 days in order to support Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-Chair and HDP Hakkari MP Leyla Güven, who started a hunger strike for the isolation against Abdullah Öcalan to be revoked and claiming fair trial. Following his announcement, Zeydan declared his decision to the prison administration with a letter.
Edirne Type-F Prison Administration, where Zeydan is arrested, banned the politician from all events for a month with a decision announced on January 11 following his letter of declaration.
