In the lawsuit filed on the stopping of the trucks belonging to the Turkish National Intelligence, the file against Adalar Mayor Erdem Gül was abated and Republican People’s Party (CHP) MP Enis Berberoğlu was not sentenced.
In the hearing of the lawsuit filed against Cumhuriyet Daily’s former Editor-In-Chief Can Dündar, Ankara representative Erdem Gül and MP Enis Berberoğlu held in February, the files of Berberoğlu and Gül were separated from the file of Dündar. The lawsuit has been filed due to the news reported on the trucks belonging to the Turkish National Intelligence (MIT) carrying ammunition to Syria.
Istanbul 14th Assize Court decided for the file against Gül due to “willfully aiding and abetting an armed terrorist organization without taking part in the hierarchical structure within the organization” to be abated in accordance with the Press Law; issuing a verdict of non-prosecution of Berberoğlu due to an existing penalty against him with the same charge. The prosecution of Dündar will continue on October 31st.
