4 police officers were acquitted after shooting and paralyzing Mehmet Emin Gezer, who was in front of the police station on October 7, 2014, to question what happened to the perpetrators of his brother, who was killed during the Kobanê protests. An objection was made against the decree of Midyat Assize Court that “there is no reason for penalisation” for four police officers, who were tried on the charge of “willful homicide attempt”. The 1st Chamber of the Supreme Court of Appeals found the objection made by the lawyers of the defendant police officers, that “they should be acquitted”, appropriate, ruling that the shooting of Gezer was an “inevitable mistake”.
