The project had to be postponed two times due to the earthquake and the terrible economic crisis in Turkey and 9/11. At last, the 3rd Gathering took place in 2003 with participation of Mr. Ken Roth (Exe. Sec. of HRW), Mr. Terry Carlbom (International Sec.of Int. PEN), the three monitors of Human Rights Watch and 13 guests. Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality promised to host the next Gathering.

18:00 – 20:30 Forum: HIV/AIDS, A HUMAN RIGHTS ISSUE Guest: Meena Seshu – India, one of the three “Monitors”of Human Rights Watch in 2002. Her participation is a contribution of HRW to the 3rd Gathering and the this forum is organized by “AIDS Struggle Association” in co-operation with women’s NGOs.

16:00 – 19:00 Forum: STOPPING THE MUSIC (Guests: Roger Lucey, Paul Erasmus – South Africa) Their participation is a contribution of FREEMUSE to the 3rd Gathering. Organized by SSS – Sanatta Sansüre Son Girişimi (Stop Censorship on Arts Initiative) and Özerk Sanat Konseyi (Independent Council of Arts) in co-operation with NGOs of arts.

All the Forums and Evenings will be held at the halls of Bilgi University Dolapdere Campus.
Each guest will have a separate program to visit relevant NGOs, and meet particular individuals, state officials and media for special interviews .
