The Interior Ministry suspended Kemal Çamlıyurt, mayor of the Damal district of Ardahan, after he was arrested on a bribery charge. As part of an investigation conducted by the Hanak Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, operations were carried out in six provinces centered on Ardahan. Police referred the detained suspects to the Hanak Courthouse. A criminal judgeship of peace arrested 10 people, including Mayor Çamlıyurt, on a charge of “bribery.” Following the Hanak Criminal Judgeship of Peace’s arrest decision dated 13 October 2026, the ministry suspended Çamlıyurt as a temporary measure under Article 127 of the Constitution and Article 47 of the Municipal Law.
