The Prosecutor objected to the acquittal of journalist Ramazan Akoğul, who recorded visuals of the protest demonstration for Mehdin Taşkın after his death due to a fire opened by soldiers in 2014 in Lice district of Diyarbakır. The Prosecutor claimed that the lack of intervention against the journalist’s recording of the visuals indicate evidence for ‘illegal organization membership.’
In the prosecution at Diyarbakır 4th Assize Court due to the demonstration, Akoğul and seven others were acquitted of the charges imposed against them. In his petition for appeal, the Prosecutor claimed that the lack of intervention against the journalist imply a “safety relationship” between Akoğul and the illegal organization members.
