The trial of journalist Barış Pehlivan on charges of “slander” and “insult” following a complaint by Court of Cassation member Yüksel Kocaman was heard at Istanbul 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance. The court accepted the defense request to hear Ali İhsan Akdoğan and Burhan Tezcan as witnesses and adjourned the case until 26 January 2027. The case was opened over Pehlivan’s article titled “I am naming the killers,” published in Cumhuriyet on 22 September 2023.
