The General Directorate of Security and the Gendarmerie General Command examined a total of 600,180 social media accounts in 2025. The gendarmerie reviewed 342,699 accounts, identified 47,936 users and initiated proceedings against them. Police examined 257,481 accounts, identified the users of 162,298 accounts and reported them to judicial authorities. As a result of these activities, 8,471 people were detained, 496 were arrested, 1,360 were placed under judicial control and 6,615 were released. According to police and gendarmerie data, investigations were launched into a total of 210,234 people over social media activity in 2025.
