The Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into M. Gürdal Çıngı, a member of the People’s Liberation Party (HKP) Presidential Board, on a charge of “incitement to commit a crime” over a social media post he made on 4 July saying “Murderer NATO, get out of our country.” In his statement, Çıngı explained his anti-NATO position in terms of anti-imperialism and defense of the homeland. The HKP headquarters described the investigation as judicial pressure.
