The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office prepared a summary of proceedings against Özgür Özel and Malatya MP Veli Ağbaba on a charge of “taking bribes on a successive basis” and sent it to the Ministry of Justice. The document alleged that benefits were obtained from Muhittin Böcek and his son Mustafa Gökhan Böcek in return for Böcek being nominated as the candidate for Antalya Metropolitan Municipality mayor. Ağbaba was also alleged to have obtained financial benefits in connection with some municipal tenders and during the 31 March 2024 local election process. Prosecutors requested that Ağbaba’s parliamentary immunity be lifted.
