On May 26, prior to Özgür Özel’s rally in İzmir, police used pepper spray and high-pressure water cannons against citizens. The governor’s office attempted to prevent the rally at Cumhuriyet Square, but the CHP did not change the rally location. Three people were detained during the intervention. Two of them were taken to court, while one lawyer was released.
