In an investigation led by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, Güzelbahçe Mayor Mustafa Günay and Urban Planning and Development Director Özgür Bayraktar were arrested on May 26. The prosecutor’s office charged the suspects with forming a criminal organization, bribery, abuse of office, and causing urban planning violations. Police conducted a search of the municipal building on the same day.
