The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) published its final “List of Journalists Killed” for 2025 on December 31. According to IFJ data, a total of 128 journalists and media workers lost their lives in 2025, 10 of whom were women; nine of the deaths were accidental. The Federation stated that authorities have systematically failed to protect journalists and called for urgent steps to break the cycle of impunity. According to the report, the Middle East and Arab World was the deadliest region for the third consecutive year with 74 deaths; 56 journalists were killed in Palestine.
