The CHP Şişli District Headquarters wanted to make a press statement in front of Nilüfer Hatun Middle School to protest the Ministry of National Education’s decision to schedule November 10th as a mid-term break.
When the police attempted to prevent the statement on security grounds, a brief tension arose. The CHP group held the statement in front of the school, saying, “This is not just a planning choice, it is an attempt to ignore the memory of Atatürk.”
The statement emphasized that November 10 is not a holiday, but a “day to commemorate Mustafa Kemal and pass on his ideas to new generations.”
