The Forensic Medicine Institution (ATK) made a statement about former Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık, who was arrested within the scope of a corruption investigation. In the statement, it was stated that there was no falsification in the opinion and that Çalık’s acute myeloid leukemia (AML) had not recurred for 26 years and was considered to be in remission. It was stated that the pathology samples were insufficient and the blast rate was 3-4 percent. It was also emphasized that there were no signs of lymphoma, muscle wasting or other active diseases and that further tests and re-evaluation were required for the diagnosis. ATK announced that new tests and reports are awaited for a final decision.
