Human Rights Association (IHD) Ankara Branch Press Rights Violations Monitoring Commission released its report on violations of press rights in the last 6 months on July 24th, the Day of Struggle for Freedom of the Press. The report stated that “terror” accusations against journalists have become a means of punishment based on secret witnesses. The Commission also emphasized that the ban on travel abroad is a violation of the fundamental human right to freedom of movement. While examples such as the broadcast blackout imposed on SZC TV and the access ban imposed on LeMan reveal the extent of censorship, it was noted that freedom of the press has de facto disappeared due to the pressures that have become permanent with the State of Emergency.
