Following journalist Metin Cihan’s X account metcihan, which was blocked in February 2025 on the grounds of Article 8/A of Law No. 5651, his new account metincih was made invisible from Turkey for the same reason. Both blocks were imposed to protect national security and public order. This second intervention against Cihan’s accounts has raised new debates about violations of freedom of expression on social media.
