Prof. Dr. Serdar M. Değirmencioğlu, who was dismissed from his job at Doğuş University for being a signatory of the Peace Declaration and dismissed from public office with the Decree Law No. 686, won two separate lawsuits he filed for his personal rights and salaries. The courts ruled that the missing payments be made with legal interest. After 7.5 years of reinstatement lawsuits and the annulment of the decree decree, Değirmencioğlu described these decisions as a fight against the “commercial mentality” in universities. Stating that payments have lost value against inflation, the academic emphasized the symbolic importance of the decisions.
