Contemporary Lawyers Association (ÇHD) announced that 371 of the 407 people detained in Istanbul during the May 1 protests were released, while 36 people are expected to be referred to the prosecutor’s office. It is also reported that 8 people who were released were detained again later on.
According to the statement of ÇHD, the procedures of 9 people detained at Şişli District Police Headquarters were completed and all of them were released. While the statement procedures in Gayrettepe are nearing the end, the procedures in Vatan Security Directorate are still ongoing. A total of 36 people held at these two locations have been ordered to be brought to the courthouse in their presence. It will become clear when these people will be brought to the courthouse after the procedures.
On the other hand, 8 people who were detained on May 1 were about to be released after their procedures at the Vatan Security Branch, but were taken to the TEM Branch this time due to the investigation into the “May 1 Taksim call” of the previous days.
ÇHD stated that it will continue to follow the process.
