Midyat Criminal Judicature of Peace revoked the verdict of non-prosecution, deciding that no effective investigation was conducted on seven villagers, who were killed and burned in Dargeçit district of Mardin in 1993, and that the Prosecutor’s Office has allowed time limitations against the file. In the investigation started against former District Gendarmerie Commander Ali Tapan in 2013 on the killing of the villagers on July 3, 1993, Dargeçit Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office described the villagers residing in Çelik Neighborhood as “PKK militants” and issued a verdict of non-prosecution, claiming that the file is under time limitation.
