YENİ Party Manisa Provincial Chair İlksen Özalper was detained and taken to Ankara to give a statement after procedures at the Manisa Police Department were completed. Police also searched Özalper’s home under the detention order. The investigation was reportedly based on statements given under effective-remorse provisions by suspended Uşak Mayor Özkan Yalım, as well as MASAK reports and HTS records. In the same case, Manisa Metropolitan Municipality mayoral adviser Demirhan Gözaçan, his driver Anıl Demir and Şehzadeler Inc. General Manager Cem Yüzer had previously been arrested over allegations of “membership in a criminal organization for material gain” and “bribery.” Authorities did not make a statement on the reason for Özalper’s detention.
