The application for the annulment of the 2017 Constitutional Referendum was rejected on the grounds that “YSK decisions are closed to the judiciary”.
The Innovation Party applied to Ankara 1st Civil Court of First Instance for the annulment of the April 16, 2017 Constitutional Referendum. The court rejected the request, stating that the YSK’s decisions are final.
Party Chairman Öztürk Yılmaz argued that the decision was political: “This decision is invalid and illegitimate. The 2017 referendum was rigged with unsealed votes. This is how the regime changed in Turkey. We will not let this decision go.”
The application was brought to the agenda when AKP’s Şamil Tayyar, while discussing the CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency decision, reminded the YSK’s decision on unsealed votes in 2017.
