An indictment was prepared against retired Rear Admiral Türker Ertürk over remarks he made on a television program in 2023. The Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office sought a prison sentence of between two and six years for Ertürk on a charge of “threatening with the intent to create fear and panic among the public through the press and media.” The indictment was sent to the Bakırköy Criminal Court of First Instance. Ertürk had been arrested on 17 August over the same remarks.
