On May 18, 2025, a student of Osmangazi University who participated in a march in Eskişehir was subjected to disciplinary proceedings upon an official letter from Anadolu University. The march had ended in front of Anadolu University Rectorate with the participation of CHP MP Mahmut Tanal.
Lawyer Özgür Erhun emphasized that the march took place outside the university and that the student exercised his constitutional right, and stated that the investigation was unlawful. He stated that the investigation documents do not specify which action of the student constitutes a crime and that the questions asked violate constitutional rights.
Erhun said that universities are trying to put pressure on students by exceeding their authority and that such practices are incompatible with the constitution.
