The United Nations (UN) made a new call for Turkey on the State of Emergency before the early elections on June 24.
UN Human Rights High Commissioner Zeid Hussein called for the State of Emergency to be revoked to ensure the safety of the elections.
Making a written statement, Zeid stated, “It is difficult to expect that the elections will be held under a trustworthy environment, when the heavy penalties against opinions of the opposition are considered.”
