Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ was fined in a court case for statements he made about Sheikh Said on his social media account. The Erzurum Hınıs Criminal Court ruled that the post made on November 9, 2024, constituted the crime of “publicly insulting a person’s memory.” The court considered the fact that the post was made on a public account as constituting public insult. At the end of the trial, Özdağ was fined 6,500 TL, the pronouncement of the sentence was deferred, and a five-year probation period was imposed.
